What you can and cannot edit in a PDF
A PDF is closer to a printed page than a Word document. It stores letters at fixed positions rather than flowing paragraphs, which is why no browser tool can reflow a paragraph the way a word processor does. This tool adds a new layer on top of the page: text, highlights, boxes, drawings and images.
To change a word that is already there, white it out and type the replacement on top, matching the size with the text size slider. If you have the original Word or Google Docs file, edit that and export it again, which gives the cleanest result.
White-out is not the same as redaction
White-out only covers what you can see. The original text stays in the file and can still be copied or found by search. For anything private, such as account numbers or ID details, use Redact PDF, which rebuilds the affected pages so the text is really gone.
