Most tools (139 of 153) run entirely in your browser using WebAssembly. Open DevTools → Network and watch: when you process a PDF, zero outgoing requests fire, because we never receive the file. The other 14 do use a server, and we name each at /how-your-files-are-handled. The file tools (PDF↔Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OCR, unlock, protect, repair, PDF/A) send your file over HTTPS to our own server in Mumbai, India, process it, and delete it right after, with a cron backstop that clears anything left within an hour. The two AI tools (Chat with PDF, Summarize) extract the text in your browser and send only text excerpts (up to 32 KB) plus your question to Anthropic, a third-party AI provider, never the whole file; Anthropic deletes API inputs and outputs within 30 days and does not use them for training by default. Our own server keeps nothing and trains on nothing.

The browser code is fully visible in your DevTools, that's how the privacy guarantee is verifiable. We plan to open-source the core browser engines so anyone can verify the on-device processing.
