OCR PDF, make scanned text searchable

Make scanned PDFs searchable and selectable with optical character recognition, in 11 languages. This tool runs on our server, not in your browser.

Runs on our server in Mumbai, India, deleted right afterPrefer no upload? Try Image to Text, browser-only

Why this tool needs a server (and how we handle it)

  • This tool needs a binary that doesn't run in browsers (Ghostscript, qpdf, LibreOffice, or Tesseract).
  • Your file is processed in an isolated tmpdir per request, on our own server: a VPS in Mumbai, India.
  • We delete the tmpdir immediately after the response is sent. A cron backstop clears anything left within an hour (for example after a crash).
  • The disk is not encrypted at rest; the file only exists on it for the seconds it takes to process, then is deleted.
  • No logging of file contents. No human review. Never used for training, never shared, never kept.
  • Sent over HTTPS (TLS), with HSTS preload and a strict CSP enforced.

How to ocr pdf

Three steps. Start to finish in under a minute.

1

Drop your scanned PDF

2

We run OCR with Tesseract

The server reads the text and overlays a searchable layer on your original pages (up to 20 pages per request).

3

Download the searchable PDF

Your file is deleted from the server right after we send the result back.
